SUMMARY:Wildcat Mountain Wander 300k
DESCRIPTION:This route splits off from the Nowhere but Norwalk 200k and Back in Black 400k at about 8.5 miles (gotta make the distance!) and then again just after Yuba and also takes a different route into Ontario through Wildcat Mountain State Park. Refueling stops in Norwalk and Sparta are recommended (Sparta is an open control so whatever’s your pleasure) and there are also opportunities at Cashton (109 miles)\, LaFarge (127 miles) and Viola (148 miles)  so you’ll be able to restock as needed. \nLike the Norwalk 200k\, there aren’t any crazy steep climbs (max grade is 12.1% but it’s early in the ride) but being the Driftless there are a lot of them so pace yourself. SUMMARY:Back in Black (River Falls) 400k
DESCRIPTION:This route is identical to the first day of the Cranberry Country 600k for a long way (through Black River) so you might have company for a good bit of the ride. Like the other routes there are a number of refueling options (Norwalk\, 50 miles; Warrens\, 82 miles; Hatfield\, 114 miles; Black River\, 127 miles; Taylor\, 143 miles; Melrose\, 160 miles; West Salem\, 184 miles; Cashton\, 208 miles; LaFarge\, 225 miles) so you shouldn’t run out of gas! It’s possible that the control in Cashton will be closed when you get there unless you’re speedy so you might want to buy some extra food in West Salem to see you through. \nThe control in LaFarge will surely be closed (though for the record\, two riders did make it there before it closed) when you get there.
