SUMMARY:Fennimore 200K
DESCRIPTION:One of our favorite routes that we’ve ridden many times. We usually do it as a season opener since it includes long flat stretches with a few testing climbs – ideal for early season fitness. This time we should all have our legs (except of course\, for your faithful servant) so it should be a very pleasant ride. \nThe route includes an open control in Fennimore where you can either do a quick stop at one of the convenience stores (Kwik Trip or Casey’s) or have lunch at the Subway. DESCRIPTION:This route is identical to the Scale the Mound 400K for the first 120 miles so riders will have the opportunity to ride with others for a considerable distance before the routes separate. Most of the climbing on the route is stacked toward the last two thirds of the ride so make sure you don’t burn too many matches early in the ride! \nRefueling stops (usually controls) are well spaced along the route: \n– Boscobel 29 miles\n– Cassville 79 miles\n– Hazel Green 119 miles\n– Shullsburg 141 miles\n– Belmont 160.5 miles\n– Muscoda 200 miles\n– Spring Green 228 miles \nNote in particular the optional stop at Shullsburg. The stretch between Shullsburg and Belmont is tough\, especially if it’s hot and/or there’s a North wind! It’s the standard format for a 600K: 400K on the first day with a 200K second day and combines the 400K “Scale the Mound” with the 200K “Nowhere but Norwalk” routes.
