Baraboo and Beyond 300K

The longer version of our season opening 200K route. This one is exactly the same through the first 100+ miles to Muscoda then continues on for a bit more distance (and a good bit more climbing!).

Here are the stats: ACP certified, 303.4 km, 8,346 feet of climbing (44 feet/mile).

Update!

Part of the route leaving Boscobel is closed due to construction so I’ve put together a detour route. The good news is the detour has a bit less climbing!

Breaking news! (Isn’t that redundant?)
I’ve previewed the route and there was a crew replacing a culvert on the route out of Baraboo. Three possibilities:

• • • They’re done and the original route is good.
    • They’re not done but the construction area is walkable.
    • They’re not done and it’s not walkable.

To allow for all three, I’ve created a route with a short detour (so for those of you keeping score at home, that’s a detour of the detour :-(. I’ll note that the detour includes a rather steep, windy descent followed by a rather steep, whiny climb 😉 So I’d recommend loading both the original route and detour route and at least checking out whether you can go through. If not, you’ll only have to retrace a very short distance to the detour.

And if you don’t want to (or haven’t) downloaded the detour for the construction, it’s pretty simple: from the construction (assuming it’s not walkable) retrace your route to Fairview Rd, turn left on Fairview, 2 more lefts and you’re back on the route past the construction.
